SnapMagic Privacy Policy

As a community-first company, SnapEDA, Inc., doing business as “SnapMagic” (“SnapMagic”, “we”, “our”, or “us”), takes the privacy of your personal information seriously.

We provide you with the ability to search, discover, evaluate, and download resources (such as digital models) for millions of electronic components.

This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) sets forth the principles and guidelines governing the protection of your Personal Information. Personal information (“Personal information”) means any data that may result in the identification of an individual, such as your name, mailing address, or email.

The Privacy Policy outlines the manner in which SnapMagic collects, uses, discloses and otherwise manages Personal Information, including from our website at https://www.snapeda.com, as well as any other desktop or web software that connects to our servers (the “Services”).

Our Promises To You

We take privacy seriously. Here are our privacy promises:

  1. When you use the SnapMagic website, or install our desktop tools or browser extensions, we will not disclose your Personal Information to any third party unless you explicitly request that we do so (such as when you request physical electronic component samples).
  2. We will respond to inquiries regarding Personal Information in a timely manner.
  3. We will use Personal Information in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
  4. We will be transparent about our use of Personal Information – what information we collect, what we do with it, and who we share it with.
  5. We will provide simple ways of opting out of marketing communications.
  6. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that unauthorized persons can not access Personal Information.

Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to any of our Services, and it governs any and all data collection and usage by us. Through the use of our Services, you are consenting to the data collection procedures expressed in this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy will inform you of the following:

  2. Why we collect personally identifiable information and the legal basis for such collection;
  3. How we use the collected information and with whom it may be shared;

To opt-out of targeted advertising, please notify us.

Information We Collect

The type of information we collect depends on how you use the Services. We may collect information for the purpose of customizing services to your preferences, responding to your requests, processing your payments, or other relevant purposes. It is always up to you whether to disclose Personal Information, although if you elect not to do so, we reserve the right not to register you as a user or provide you with particular products or services. The Services collect various types of information, such as:

  • Voluntarily provided information which may include your name, email address, mailing address, employer, etc. which may be used when you sign up, request samples, purchase services and/or to deliver the services you have requested.
  • Information automatically collected when visiting our Services, which may include cookies, third-party tracking technologies and server logs.

In addition, SnapMagic may have the occasion to collect non-personal anonymous demographic information, such as age and gender, the type of browser you are using, IP address, or type of operating system, which will assist us in providing and maintaining superior quality service.

We will only collect personal information that you knowingly and willingly provide to us by way of surveys, completed forms, and emails. It is the intent of this site to use personal information only for the purpose for which it was requested, and any additional uses specifically provided for on this Privacy Policy.

Why We Collect Information and For How Long

We are collecting your data for several reasons:

  • To better understand your needs and provide you with the services you have requested;
  • To fulfill our legitimate interest in improving our Services;
  • To send you information directly from SnapMagic that we think you may like. We may do this by sending you – via post, email, newsletter, SMS, push notifications or phone – editorial content, details of products, services, special offers, promotions and other information;
  • To contact you to fill out surveys or participate in other types of market research;
  • To customize our Services according to your online behavior and personal preferences.

The data we collect from you will be stored for no longer than necessary. The length of time we retain said information will be determined based upon the following criteria: the length of time your personal information remains relevant; the length of time it is reasonable to keep records to demonstrate that we have fulfilled our duties and obligations; any limitation periods within which claims might be made; any retention periods prescribed by law or recommended by regulators, professional bodies or associations; the type of contract we have with you, the existence of your consent, and our legitimate interest in keeping such information as stated in this Policy.

How We Use Your Personal Information

We process all Personal Information in accordance with applicable data protection laws. SnapMagic does not sell, rent or lease any of its customer lists and/or names to any third parties.

SnapMagic may make use of personal information to assist in the operation of our Services and to ensure delivery of the services you need and request. At times, we may find it necessary to use Personal Information as a means to keep you informed of other possible products and/or services that may be available to you using our Services. SnapMagic may also be in contact with you with regards to completing surveys and/or research questionnaires related to your opinion of current or potential future services that may be offered.

How We Share Your Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We only share it as described in this policy, such as with service providers, partners you interact with, legal authorities when required, or with your consent. Note that under California law our use of certain advertising services may constitute “selling” or “sharing” personal information. See the California Residents section below for details and your opt-out rights.

Service Providers and Processors

We share Personal Information with service providers and processors that perform functions on our behalf and only at our direction, under written agreements that restrict their use of the data. These include:

  • Front: manages our customer communications and support. Front may process Personal Information using AI for summarization, message routing, support response drafting, and spam/abuse detection. AI-generated outputs are reviewed by a human before reaching you.
  • OpenAI: powers AI-assisted features within the Service. Personal Information processed through these features is reviewed by a human before outputs are acted upon.
  • Hosting, analytics, payment, and other infrastructure providers required to operate the Services.
  • Outside auditors who have agreed to keep the information confidential.

Third Parties

We may share Personal Information with third parties that act independently of SnapMagic, in the following circumstances:

  • Partners you interact with: for example, when you request product samples, we share your shipping information with the supplier so they can fulfill the request.
  • Advertising partners: we use advertising services (including AdRoll and Google Ads) that may collect identifiers and information about your interactions with our Services. Under California law these practices may constitute “selling” or “sharing.” See the California Residents section for your opt-out rights.
  • Social media features: our Services include third-party social media features (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others) that may collect your IP address and set cookies. These services are governed by their own privacy policies and are not within SnapMagic's control.
  • Legal authorities: as required by law, or in response to a subpoena, search warrant, or other valid legal process.
  • To protect our rights: as necessary to enforce the Terms of Service or to maintain, safeguard, and preserve the rights and property of SnapMagic.
  • With your consent: in any other manner described in this Privacy Policy or to which you have otherwise consented.
  • Aggregated or de-identified: we may share aggregate or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify you.

Non-Marketing Purposes

SnapMagic greatly respects your privacy. We do maintain and reserve the right to contact you if needed for non-marketing purposes (such as bug alerts, security breaches, account issues, and/or changes in SnapMagic products and services).

Unsubscribe or Opt-Out

All users and visitors to our Services have the option to discontinue receiving communications from us by way of email or newsletters. To discontinue or unsubscribe from our Services please send an email that you wish to unsubscribe to [email protected]. If you wish to unsubscribe or opt-out from any third-party websites, you must go to that specific website to unsubscribe or opt-out. SnapMagic will continue to adhere to this Policy with respect to any personal information previously collected.

Links to Other Websites

Our Services contains links to other websites, such as those of suppliers and distributors. SnapMagic does not claim nor accept responsibility for any privacy policies, practices and/or procedures of other such websites. Therefore, we encourage all users and visitors to be aware when they leave our Services and to read the privacy statements of all services that collects personally identifiable information. This Privacy Policy Agreement applies only and solely to the information collected by our Services.

European Union (EU) Individuals

This section applies if you are an individual in the EU (for these purposes, reference to the EU also includes the European Economic Area countries of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway and, to the extent applicable, Switzerland).

Data Controller

SnapMagic is the data controller for processing of your Personal Information . We act as a data processor (or service provider) in relation to the Services we provide to our Customers. Our establishment in the EU is in Spain. For information regarding our registered office and how to contact us, please see the "Contact" section below.

Your Rights

Subject to EU data protection law, you have the following rights in relation to your Personal Information :

  • Right Of Access: If you ask us, we will confirm whether we are processing your Personal Information and, if so, provide you with a copy of that Personal Information along with certain other details. If you require additional copies, we may need to charge a reasonable fee.
  • Right To Rectification: If your Personal Information is inaccurate or incomplete, you are entitled to ask that we correct or complete it. If we shared your Personal Information with others, we will tell them about the correction where possible. If you ask us, and where possible and lawful to do so, we will also tell you with whom we shared your Personal Information so you can contact them directly.
  • Right To Erasure: You may ask us to delete or remove your Personal Information , such as where you withdraw your consent. If we shared your data with others, we will alert them to the need for erasure where possible. If you ask us, and where possible and lawful to do so, we will also tell you with whom we shared your Personal Information with so you can contact them directly.
  • Right To Restrict Processing: You may ask us to restrict or ‘block’ the processing of your Personal Information in certain circumstances, such as where you contest the accuracy of the data or object to us processing it (please read below for information on your right to object). We will tell you before we lift any restriction on processing. If we shared your Personal Information with others, we will tell them about the restriction where possible. If you ask us, and where possible and lawful to do so, we will also tell you with whom we shared your Personal Information so you can contact them directly.

This means that we will not penalize you for exercising your rights by taking actions such as denying you services; increasing the price/rate of services; decreasing service quality; or suggesting that we may penalize you as described above for exercising your rights.

  • Account credentials (email address and password) used to authenticate access to the Services.

We do not use Sensitive Personal Information for purposes other than those permitted by the CCPA/CPRA. You may exercise your right to limit our use of Sensitive Personal Information by contacting us.

We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Services, complying with our legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our agreements. Our security measures are being improved continuously as new technology develops. The processing and transmission of data through our website is encrypted by Secure Sockets Layer protocol (“SSL”), which is an encryption technology to ensure the highest possible security for the transmission of your data, including Personal Information, between your web browser and our internet system.
