Hi,
The connector is right angle and through pole. The footprint doesn't seem to account for that. In addition the 24 pins are individually accessible, as per the manufacturer's datasheet. But the footprint here is only 12 pins. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out. Upon checking, this specific USB connector is indeed an edge-connected, straddle-mounted USB and also with 24 pins.
In the footprint viewer, it may only show that it only has 12 pins but if you open it in your design tool, the footprint has top and bottom layer pads which consists of 12 pins on top and 12 pins on the bottom.
To mount this USB, you need to have a 0.8mm PCB thickness, connect it on the edge and in between the USBs legs. Kindly check this image for example: https://www.globalsources.com/USB-C/USB-C-male-straddle-mount-type-1143401573p.htm
I hope this helps clear out the confusion. Please let us know if you have any other questions or clarifications.
Thanks!
